Jamil McGinnis and Pat Heywood are a filmmaking team based in Brooklyn, New York.
Pat grew up in Fall River, Massachusetts as a self-professed cinephile. He graduated from Emerson College with a degree concentrating in Film and Television. During his time there, he was nominated to partake in the prestigious Writers Guild of America East Mentorship Program. After college, he began working as an assistant, then a coordinator at the world-renowned production company SMUGGLER. During his four years at the company, he worked on projects for a roster of world-class directors, including Barry Jenkins, Kathryn Bigelow, Tom Hooper, Bennett Miller, Todd Field, Henry-Alex Rubin, Susanne Bier, Miles Jay, and Chris Smith.
Jamil is a Turkish and African American filmmaker/photographer originally from Kaiserslautern, Germany. Upon graduating business school from Florida A&M University and a couple Wall Street stockbroker gigs under his belt, Jamil jumped into the advertising and film industry. He started out at Saatchi & Saatchi New York as a Production Coordinator, then moved over to Droga5, where he spent over two years as a Producer. He worked extensively on nationally broadcasted campaigns with top-tier production companies such as Biscuit Filmworks, Arts & Sciences, and Somesuch.
